Weekly Photo Challenge: Symmetry in Architectures

Your interpretation of this theme might be quite different from mine, as symmetry doesn’t necessarily equate to peace and calm. For this challenge, share an image of symmetry. Don’t limit yourself to architecture — you can bend this theme in any way you’d like. A portrait of your twins? A window grille? The yellow lines of a busy road? A row of sharp points along a metal fence? Let the world inspire you.

Be Cautious – Swine Flu

flu-prevention-poster-sign-10940857

swineflu_poster esi031_influenza how_to_avoid_h1n1 swine_flu_4 swine-flu  Swine-Flu-Prevention

Swine Flu Symptoms

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. “Hands-off-the-face” approach.
Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless while eating, bathing, etc).

3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don’t trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don’t underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above,
clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.

5. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. Drink as much of warm liquids
as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

All these are simple ways to prevent, within means of most households, and certainly much less painful than to wait in long queues outside public hospitals.

Daily Prompt: Call Me, Maybe

You ring! You buzz! You thrill! You disappoint!

How can I live without you? How did I live without you? How would I live without you?

Some say you are an obsession but I say it’s an obsession by choice!

You bring good news, you bring bad news, and you make friends closer

You make things bitter, you create misunderstandings, and you give sleepless nights

You give heart attacks when you are on silent and you are lost

It’s true; you are a tool for the fool and for the wise too! You are a need of an hour…

My Mobile is all of three… It is a lifeline, a buzzing nuisance, and something in between in different situations.

When I am expecting some news, my mobile is my lifeline. It’s a medium of connection which surprises me at times when I receive unexpected call from my old friends after a long time. It just become lifeline for that relation and suddenly I relive all my past moments again and that also after a single call on my mobile. My emotions go on a ride with joy and tears come out slowly out of Joy.

There are times when I want to be alone; I want to be just me and desire to do things which I want and suddenly Mobile rings and I hate it like anything. My complete routine is in danger and things get complicated since I want to do other things but I need to do some other things just because of that call. It is such a dilemma and there is a internal fight between my heart and my mind on what to do. My brain says, “It may be important call…Someone may be in need” and My Heart says, “There was a life even when Mobile/Phone didn’t exist…Just be alone and do what you wanna do…” At times, you wish that Phone doesn’t ring and disturb the peace or occasion and believe me it does just that immediately after that thought 🙂

Sometimes it is both…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unique Peacock’s Feather

Positive Meanings of Peacock’s Feather

Peacock feathers represent pride, and by extension, nobility and glory. Peacocks are also known to eat poisonous plants with no ill effects, making their feathers a symbol of incorruptibility and immortality.

Hindu Meaning of Peacock’s Feather

Hindu mythology associates peacocks with the god Lakshmi. The feathers thus represent his qualities: kindness, patience and good fortune.

Buddhist Meaning of Peacock’s Feather

Buddhists associate peacock feathers with openness, since the birds display everything when they spread their tails. Buddhists also ascribe great meaning to the bird’s diet of poisonous plants–the ability to thrive in the face of suffering.
